Hand Hygiene Awareness and Knowledge Among Healthcare Personnel in The Dawadmi Region of Saudi Arabia: A Cross- Sectional Survey Study

Introduction: The outcome of patient care in healthcare settings is influenced predominantly by healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Hand hygiene the single most essential component avoiding HAIs. Objectives: aim study to evaluate awareness and knowledge about hand among personnel Dawadmi Region Saudi Arabia. Materials Methods: This cross-sectional survey was carried out between May till September 2021. tool (Questionnaire) adopted from World Health Organization's Hygiene Knowledge Questionnaire (revised 2009), validated according CROSS (Checklist for Reporting Survey Studies) check list. Results: A total 300 participants were randomly enrolled, 60 nursing assistants, 140 nurses, 100 residents, enrolled this study. With respect years experience washing, 123 had 1–5 (41%), 6–10 (80%), 11–20 (77%), greater than 30 participation (6.67%). Concerning education washing hygiene, training programs attended 230 (76.67%), 70 (23.33%) did not attend latest program conducted each institution. Most them (83.33%) using alcohol hygiene. Conclusions: has clearly shown requirement an in-depth appraisal important issues compliance safety. Educational interventions recognize opportunities, improved availability facilities multifaceted approach tackle various barriers (poor attitude, workload, etc) adherence are needed be accorded priority.
